MVO team outing on Texel
For the annual team outing, the MVO team headed to Texel this year. Of course, not without paying a visit to our valued MVO member De Wit Specialty Oils. Precisely because our members are based all over the Netherlands and are not always just around the corner, visits like these are extra valuable. It is a great opportunity to speak to one another in person and get a look behind the scenes.
In addition, there was plenty of time to explore the island. By bike, from the water and through the Texel landscape. Along the way, several seals were also spotted. A lovely and enjoyable day with the whole team!
Webinar on new VIBE Toolkit on 12 October
On 12 October from 13:30 to 15:00, MVO is organising an English-language webinar about the new VIBE Toolkit for the oils and fats industry. The toolkit helps companies reduce their energy consumption and energy costs with concrete and practically applicable measures.
During the webinar, consultancy firm Bilfinger will explain the technical background of the toolkit, including the key measures for three standard factories and how they are applied in practice. The VIBE Toolkit will be officially launched on 6 October during the Industrial Heat & Power trade fair in Den Bosch. MVO members will receive a separate invitation for the webinar.
Recognition for commitment to a sustainable palm oil chain
Together with its members, MVO is committed to a sustainable palm oil chain. This commitment is also recognised by RSPO. In the latest Shared Responsibility Scorecard, MVO achieves a score of 8.5 or higher, a score that RSPO regards as a top score.
With the scorecard, RSPO makes it clear how its members give shape to their shared responsibility for making the palm oil chain more sustainable. A score of 8.5 or higher represents a strong commitment to the objectives of the Shared Responsibility programme.
Farewell to Irma Schönherr
After a period at MVO, we are saying goodbye to Irma. Irma stepped in at times when extra support was urgently needed and committed herself to various dossiers in the field of quality and food and feed safety. In doing so, she made an important contribution to our work on, among other things, MOAH and pesticides. With her substantive knowledge and experience, she helped take these dossiers forward and supported MVO and our members with issues that are very much in flux. We thank Irma for her commitment and involvement and wish her every success in her next step. And who knows, perhaps we will see each other again!
New talent: Meet Sjaak Verkade
Sjaak Verkade (26) will strengthen MVO’s Public Affairs efforts over the next six months. He is studying for a master’s in Public Sector Management at Leiden University and is supporting the monitoring of political developments and the preparation of our advocacy work. In this way, young talent gets to know our sector and, hopefully, we will soon have an enthusiastic ambassador as well.
MVO receives recognition from RTRS
The Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. During the anniversary dinner on 2 September, MVO received a special recognition as ‘Long-standing active member – Industry Trade and Finance’. MVO has been a member of RTRS since January 2007 and has remained actively involved ever since. With this recognition, RTRS puts organisations in the spotlight that have made a long-term contribution to international cooperation on responsible soy. MVO congratulates RTRS on its 20th anniversary and looks forward to continued cooperation.
