Scientists call for more sustainable palm oil practices 

There is neither an economic nor an environmental case for the substitution of palm with vegetable oils or exotic oils on a large scale, scientists conclude in a study that was published in the journal Nature Sustainability.


The study concludes that ensuring sustainability in the palm oil sector is the only realistic approach to reducing environmental impact. This requires going beyond existing voluntary certification schemes, and accounting for supply chain complexity and socio-political challenges, scientists state.

EPOA in Expert Group European Commission 

We are pleased to announce that EPOA has been appointed as member of the European Commission Expert Group / Multi-Stakeholder Platform on Protecting and Restoring the World's Forests. If normal working and travelling conditions have resumed by then, the first meeting of the Group working on the follow-up to the ‘Commission Communication on Protecting and Restoring the World’s Forests’ will be organised in Brussels on 2 October 2020.

New team member at EPOA

This spring EPOA has welcomed a new team member. Stephania Rivera Tamayo will be committed to the development and monitoring of sustainable palm oil and will translate policy into new means of communication.
